Of mice, not men

Judy’s Summertime Wrap up

Ahhh—anticipation:  a long holiday weekend to squeeze in the last few, warm, sunny days of summer, and another exciting football season soon to begin—both something to look forward to……..but another presidential speech about the economy next week—NOT SO MUCH.

In fact, it’s probably safe to assume that this week’s speech will be more of the “same ol’, same ol’” and more depressing than uplifting, particularly when Erick Erickson reported in the “Daily Events” from “Human Events” online today that “the nation, for the first time since 1945, created net ZERO jobs.  No jobs created at all. And Barack Obamas’s plan?  Old ideas he trotted out before repackaged as new.”  Obama’s press secretary claims the new plan will bring unemployment below 9%.  Wow, what a huge relief—such a drastic drop—down from 9.1%.  Obama and the administration must think this will work better than the stimulus plan that it promised would keep unemployment below 8%.  Frankly, Erickson appears to be right on this one—“Maybe they should just call it a day and go back to Martha’s Vineyard.”     To read full article, go to:      (Guess the stock market wasn’t encouraged by this news today either.)

********Meanwhile the administration is spending $35M for Mice, Fairy Shrimp, Mussels, and Beetles  according to another article in “Human Events” by Audrey Hudson on 9/2/11.  Hudson reports, “The Obama administration is spending $35 million to buy 30,000 acres of private property across the U.S. this year to make permanent homes for mice, fairy shrimp, mussels, prairie bushes and beetles. Those are just some of the 70 critters and plants to benefit from the land purchases in a dozen states as part of the government’s habitat conservation plans for endangered species.  Now it isn’t like the administration needs to buy more land since according to Rob Gordon, senior adviser for strategic outreach at the ‘Heritage Foundation’, the federal government already owns more land than Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy and Poland combined.”  To read more, go to:

********The Heritage Foundation’s “Morning Bell” has the latest details on “Fast and Furious” a scandalous story that appears to go right to the top and grows more appalling with each bit of information that is revealed.  This story by Mike Brownfield posted on 8/31/11 is one we should all be aware of and continue to watch.  Brownfield writes, “A U.S. government gun-trafficking investigation gone horribly wrong has resulted in the death of a U.S. Border Patrol officer, some 2,000 firearms in the hands of criminals, and the dismissal of a 24-year veteran law enforcement official. This is the story of Fast and Furious, and yesterday the latest chapter unfolded when two top officials associated with the operation were removed from their positions, while a third individual resigned.”  To read the entire article, go to:

********According to Reuters, the Obama administration has sued to block AT&T’s $39 Billion acquisition of wireless rival T-Mobile because it’s afraid it would “harm competition”.  AT&T is planning to fight the government in court as this could cost the carrier a potentially costly blow.  Analysts are saying however that AT&T might have to make huge concessions like selling major assets to mollify regulators.  For more, go to:  and

********Too bad the administration doesn’t spend as much time on the economy as it spends filing lawsuits.  According to the New York Times, the Feds have filed suit against big banks over mortgage losses.  Charley Blaine reports, “the regulator for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac plans to seek billions to reimburse the two mortgage giants for losses in the 2008 financial crisis.”  The suits supposedly filed this morning “by the Federal Housing Finance Agency are expected to seek billions of dollars in compensation [and] are aimed at JPMorgan Chase (JPM), Bank of America (BAC), Goldman Sachs (GS), Deutsche Bank (DB) and others.”  The banks are being accused of “misrepresenting the quality of mortgage securities they assembled and sold at the height of the housing bubble.”     (Barney Frank, where are you???)   For more, go to:

********And the table turns:  According to an Associated Press report, “the coal industry announced that it will sue the Obama administration over plans to regulate surface coal mining.”  Read the full story at:

********Sen. Scott Brown has just returned from 7 days “on duty” in Afghanistan as a National Guard officer and indicated in a “Boston Herald” article that his fellow soldiers “worry about pensions pay and the impact of troop withdrawals announced by President Obama earlier this summer.”  To read full story, go to:

A reminder that Elizabeth Warren may be (she’s still deciding) the Dems’ candidate of choice to run against Senator Brown in 2012, and although some people think of her as being less of a contender that “Marsha”, TOO liberal and TOO elite (is that possible in MA?) as a Harvard professor for nearly 20 years, Brown is going to need every bit of support to take on both her (or whomever else steps up) AND the brutal media onslaught that’s already begun.  Bumper stickers and push cards are available at his Needham Headquarters!   Go to his campaign website for more info.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   ********Getting back to local politics here in Massachusetts, an illegal alien made front page news this week—and one with a “famous relative” at that. The only good thing about this is that it’s keeping the illegal alien problem in the lime-light, where it should be, until everyone’s focus is on correcting it.  This time the illustrious illegal is  “Uncle Omar” Obama—a relative of none other than our own President Obama (hmmmm, just like “Auntie Z”—wonder if there are any more out there?).

Michelle Malkin wrote about this incident (post is at: where she discusses the “lip service” that the administration has continuously given to this issue and to 9/11 saying, “The refusal to deal with Uncle Omar tells you everything you need to know about the emptiness and impotence of Washington’s 9/11 platitudes.”

She goes on to say, “’Omar’ is Onyango Obama, the illegal alien deportation fugitive who is the long-lost Kenyan half-brother of President Obama’s father. The president mentioned him in his best-selling book, ‘Dreams from My Father’.  But these days, he’d undoubtedly prefer to whitewash him out of the public eye. Last week, Uncle Omar was arrested for drunk driving in Framingham, Mass., and held on an immigration detainer.”  After allegedly rolling through a stop sign, Onyango almost crashed into a police car, then upon his arrest, demanded to call the White House.

This comes on the heels of the incident a couple of weeks ago when an illegal alien driving drunk killed 23-year-old Matthew Denice in Milford.   Growing sentiment across the nation agrees with Malkin, when she complains that “The post-9/11 absconder apprehension initiative has been decimated. The total number of apprehensions of illegal aliens by immigration enforcement agencies is less than half of what it was five years ago, according to the Center for Immigration Studies. And the White House is dispensing deportation waivers like Pez candy en masse.”
