Save Our State of Massachusetts
Dan Iagatta‘s calling hours will be at Robert’s Funeral Home on Thursday April 26th from 4-8pm, his Funeral Mass will be on Friday April 27th at 10:00am at St. Mary’s Church in Foxboro. Dan tried to prepare us for this day but all the preparing that he did still didn’t make it any easier to accept. /Lisa (Dan is center of photo)
To understand his impact on people, visit his facebook page http://www.facebook.com/iagatta Dan’s story https://sosmass.wordpress.com/2012/04/07/dan-iagatta-is-dieing/, posted April 7, 2012 is reposted below, but should continue to be shared with the world, on your facebooks, and everywhere else, most especially with your legislators who should pass an Iagatta bill so that this travesty of justice might never occur again. The system that took everything from Dan Iagatta, including his children, needs repair far beyond VAWA, but it’s a start as the most obvious. Dan should be held up as the poster child of what’s wrong with Restraining Orders that can be imposed on a c4 quadriplegic (3 times, and by 3 different judges). It shows that ROs are given out to anyone that asks, and if judges use no discretion for this, what else do you think is going on? ROs are only a fraction of the story, but follow the MONEY. Please view and share the video below, i.e., Dan preparing for court, (made years ago), before Dan was evicted. Dan’s story only gets worse after that as you can learn by reading further. Keep Dan Iagatta’s memory, courage, and exceptionalism alive by spreading his story, and contacting your legislators (example below), until we fix what took years, and much more from Dan’s life. CALL, EMAIL, and WRITE, ALL OF THEM: Senate- http://www.malegislature.gov/People/Senate House- http://www.malegislature.gov/People/House
Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. – MLK RIP Danny /George
For all those whose hearts ache in the passing of Dan, Heaven got another angel tonight. What we all know is Heaven got the most remarkable one. We love you Dan. /Kristi
First of all we’re going to make darn sure that every Christmas, we keep the Christ in Christmas. Then we’re going to remember everything else he stood for from his unwavering Patriotism to fighting for what’s right, and most importantly – FAMILY.
Dan represents everything good about the good people of this state, and EVERYTHING that is wrong with it.
Where to start? God, I love that man. Everyone who knows or has met him does, so that’s not so unique. His perseverance, inspiration, integrity, and most important to him, his FAITH. “It just takes a seed. Do you know how small a mustard seed is? That’s all it takes.” he always says when trying to persuade someone to have or keep the faith. He can quote scriptures for any occasion, that is at his core, but he can teach you about everything from computers to the minute details of the human body, while at all times completely as versed in history, as current events, politics, and unfortunately the massive corruption of our courts. The latter more thoroughly detailed elsewhere, but suffice it to say his first hand experience and knowledge of that arena qualify him as both HERO and Poster Child for Court Abuse, and more. Concurrent to being an activist, and the inspiration to all, not just the down trodden or immobile, but to the hundreds of victims of court abuse AND RESTRAINING ORDERS, think VAWA!!!, that our state could ever let happen to Dan, and do to him what it did is a testament to how very broken our system is, and that it is more geared to serving abusers, than being the safety net all these feel good programs are predicated on.
Let this be the theme song for Dan and serve as but only the introduction to the broken and dysfunctional system our legislators will have you believe is working!
Like a flash in a pan Dan Iagatta went from successful plumbing business owner, volunteer firefighter and paramedic to a quadriplegic, bound to a motorized wheelchair for life. A car struck the 40 year old on his bike while he was training for an upcoming triathlon. (Accident During Triathlon Training Leaves Massachusetts …Lt. Dan Iagatta, a call firefighter and lieutenant for the Foxborough Fire Department for the last 14 years, was struck by a vehicle and paralyzed on April 10 while…) After the accident, Dan was flown out to Craig Hospital in Colorado where he underwent three months of treatment to begin his recovery. Shortly after his return home, his wife of 15 years, and a registered nurse, divorced him and a new chapter of horrors would unfold. This would include not even ‘seeing’ his kids, as well as being EVICTED and having his childhood home, (bought from his parents below market to serve as his marital home), sold out from under him to satisfy his ex-wife, attorneys, GALS and a host of other wrongfully enriched people who left Dan with less than nothing, but even the moving bills.
Upon eviction Dan was dumped at a neighbor’s home, everything from his necessary customized bed to his specialized van carted off by the evictors. Unable to properly care for his medical conditions and special needs, he was brought by ambulance to a hospital and put in a psych ward for safe keeping. Dan spent weeks in this locked down facility that was not equipped to tend to his specific medical needs before he was moved to geriatrics. A dismal prospect by any standards, but so much more so for such a young man in mind and years. Many worked overtime to get him into a nursing home, if only because it was a better alternative to terminal hospitalization for years to come, but the real travesty was, Dan’s home was equipped with over $100,000.00 of equipment, including an elevator, all expended so he could continue to live there, and taxpayers were now funding to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars for hospitalization while the equity in his house was plundered and it sat there empty. Dan was now destined to spend the rest of his life in a nursing home, and did so for many unbearable months, until State Representative Jay Barrows helped orchestrate and coordinate a massive effort to get him into subsidized housing. LEFT: Rep Barrows talks to Dan in his new digs after a long day of moving Dan’s life out of storage. BELOW RIGHT: behind his van is the housing Barrows procured for Dan. (Click on any picture to enlarge)
Who would have thought then, that after such a life threatening and crushing accident rendering Dan a C4 quadriplegic, and destined for a wheelchair for the rest of his life, he would actually do and accomplish three times more than he did before the accident? But then who would have thought when the worst would happen to him, or you, he would be the one with the unwavering faith, inspiration, and enthusiasm for LIFE?
Dan got his driver’s license in 2007, of which he says; “It felt like my disability virtually disappeared when I was able to drive again,” He then went on to finish a master’s degree in vocational education and teach adult photography classes. He was elected for the high school committee at his alma mater and taught, until recently, CCD classes at his local church, all while continuing his participation in numerous volunteer projects and advocacy groups. He, (again until very recently Foxboro Reporter > Archives > News > Iagatta resigns SRVTHS post ) drives for the Meals on Wheels program, sits on the local disability committee, and drives for a program that provides transport for disabled or elderly people. Early on he had received an Outstanding Achievement Award for his contribution to the Easter Seals Disability Service. “I have a passion for life – just give me a challenge and I’ll do it.” says Dan who is also an avid photographer, sportsman, nutrition enthusiast, and pilot.
Dan personally designed his van’s custom paint job, the driver’s side door emblazoned with the words: COURTS PARALYZE FAMILIES MORE THAN ACCIDENTS. Already honored that I was consulted with on the matter, I will forever be blown away that he took my recommendation of the one thing I said had to be on it somewhere so that we might never give up hope: JUSTICE IS COMING (Dan and the rest of us are left to ponder when, but that’s a whole other story).
Dan credits his father with the fact that “He always pushed me to have a game plan and taught me the importance of setting goals,” but, of course, Dan surpassed all goals and expectations under the worst of circumstances. Speaking of VAWA, a hot button issue that everyone should be calling their legislators to VOTE AGAINST: Senator Brown at (202) 224-4543 and Senator Kerry at (202) 224-2742
“Men such as these are regularly imprisoned,” said Judge Raphaelson “not because they committed a crime,” but as a result of judges and police trained to “create” violence against women to tap into the billions of dollars in VAWA money.
As an example, Massachusetts Judge Beverly Boorstein issued a restraining order against Mr. Daniel Iagatta, a quadriplegic confined to a wheelchair or hospital bed, because Mr. Iagatta’s wife, who is divorcing him, requested a restraining order saying she was “afraid” of him. Mr. Iagatta cannot sit upright without being helped to do so. The legally defined standard for issuing a restraining order is “the threat of imminent serious physical harm.” But, Judge Boorstein issued the restraining order against Mr. Iagatta and “created” another instance of violence against women.
Judge Boorstein was featured in a scathing I-team report by Joe Berganteno, and as a result was demoted and then forced into early retirement, BUT THAT WAS FOR WHAT SHE DID AS SUPERVISOR of the court when she was OFF the bench, shopping. None who were violated by her, or had their families and finances destroyed would ever be made whole, and she would never be held accountable for the injustices they suffered as is the case with any unethical judge or other public official ‘serving’ the public.
Dan Iagatta is unique only in that this could have been done to a quadriplegic, but it is not the least bit uncommon for the courts and lawyers to bleed all kinds of people, and their estates dry. It’s just what they do. Just imagine that Dan’s ex was successful in getting at least three RESTRAINING ORDERS against him, and ultimately Dan would have to pay for supervised visits with his OWN children he so devotedly loved! If that doesn’t tell you something is drastically wrong with our system, and know it goes on everyday for hundreds of fathers, though mothers are victimized by our CORRUPT courts as well!

Subject: WHY GOD ALLOWS PAIN
This is one of the best explanations of why God allows pain and suffering
that I have seen…
A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed. As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation.
They talked about so many things and various subjects. When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said: “I don’t believe that God exists.”
“Why do you say that?” asked the customer. “Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn’t exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children?
If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can’t imagine a loving God who would allow all of these things.” The customer thought for a moment, but didn’t respond because he didn’t want to start an argument. The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop.
Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and unkempt. The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber:
“You know what? Barbers do not exist.”
“How can you say that?” asked the surprised barber.
“I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!”
“No!” the customer exclaimed. “Barbers don’t exist because If they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside.”
“Ah, but barbers DO exist! That’s what happens when people do not come to me.”
“Exactly!” affirmed the customer. “That’s the point! God, too, DOES exist!
That’s what happens when people do not go to Him and don’t look to Him for help.
That’s why there’s so much pain and suffering in the world.”
