Save Our State of Massachusetts

Rounding up the news

It’s become virtually impossible to keep up with the news, let alone what our legislators are doing, if anything beyond political shuffling or campaigning.  (Can you even believe how much of the job IS campaigning?)  One particularly good site that makes this task significantly easier rounds up the political aspect with regularity, and a little snark, (gotta have snark in this environment).  Mike Deehan who produces MASSter List every morning, and sometimes more often does an excellent job scouring the internet and news media so we don’t have to, and daily emails deliver to you so you don’t have to go searching.  Here’s today’s.  Consider signing up:

FAREWELL: Former Majority Leader Jim Vallee, who wasn’t running for reelection but was planning to stick around for the rest of his term, announced his resignation and said farewell to the House yesterday.

JUST A BACKDROP: Instead of addressing the criticism that everything about this debate has the name ‘Kennedy’ attached or is located near a large building/shrine for a Kennedy, the EMK Institute and Victoria Kennedy instead say yesterday’s Herald story on the proposed UMass Boston Senate debate (sponsored by the Institute) is just being mean to poor old Tom Brokaw. The debate has also been moved to avoid Yom Kippur.

CALL IT A GAMBLE: The NRCC smells blood on the North Shore and plans to pump $2.3 million worth of air-time into the Boston market to try to bump off John Tierney.

FOOLPROOF: Time may be running out for Team Obama to really hammer home their message on the Romney gubernatorial record. Perhaps the local Dems are planning some kind of massive mobilization so they can all go out on the trail and bash Gov. Mitt’s record.  Let’s see here: 160 House members, divided by ten swing states, throw a few Senators into FL, OH, PA and other big states and they could plant a handful of Mass. Democrats in every major swing market around the country. This is clearly Barack Obama’s only chance to win.
